Towards Fuel Efficient, Lower Emission Light Vehicles: Submission to the Vehicle Emissions Discussion Paper [PDF 6.24 MB]

The transport sector is one of the fastest growing sources of emissions within Australia, increasing by 47.5% since 1990, however it also represents one of the most financially attractive emission reduction opportunities across the Australian economy. ClimateWorks and Future Climate Australia have identified that best practice light vehicle CO2 emission standards can reduce emissions from light vehicles by about 100 million tonnes between 2020 to 2030 - close to 10% of the Federal Government’s emissions reduction target over that period.

The Path Forward for Electric Vehicles in Australia - Joint Submission to the Federal Government Vehicle Emissions Discussion Paper [PDF 1.63 MB]

A broad coalition of representatives from Australia’s emerging electric vehicle market including TransGrid, AGL, Tesla, Ergon and Renault (convened by ClimateWorks) is calling on the Federal Government to support a nationally co-ordinated approach to support the move from petrol and diesel, to electric cars.

Towards Fuel Efficient, Lower Emissions Light Vehicles: Response Summary [PDF 4.08 MB]

On 1 December 2015, ClimateWorks released an Issues Paper considering a range of complementary measures that could be implemented in support of light vehicle CO2 emission standards, to help drive improvement in fuel economy across Australia’s light vehicle fleet. Input from consultation with industry, government and consumers (in collaboration with Future Climate Australia and the Global Fuel Economy) has been consolidated into this summary report.

Improving the Fuel Efficiency of the Victorian Government’s Passenger Vehicle Fleet [PDF 2.55 MB]

ClimateWorks has identified clear improvement opportunities for fuel efficiency of the Victorian Government’s passenger vehicle fleet. This report provides an overview of the current fuel efficiency of the Victorian Government’s passenger vehicle fleet and considers a range of potential short and long term options to overcome key barriers to achieve improvements.

Energy Management and Company Competitiveness [PDF 1.62 MB]

Energy, once perceived as a relatively fixed cost, is now becoming an important variable cost that impacts on profits. This report outlines a methodology to assist companies to gain a deeper understanding of energy risks, and the opportunities associated with improved energy performance. By using this information, companies will be able to undertake voluntary actions to minimise energy-related risks and improve competitiveness.

Pathways to Deep Decarbonisation in 2050: How Australia can prosper in a low carbon world [PDF 3.88 MB]

The full 'Pathways to Deep Decarbonisation in 2050: How Australia can prosper in a low carbon world' report prepared by ClimateWorks and released 23 September 2014, presents an illustrative deep decarbonisation pathway for Australia – just one of many possible pathways – developed using a combination of well-established modelling tools to identify feasible and least-cost options.
